Stress. It’s that annoying mother-like voice inside your head lecturing on how much better you could be doing in life, while simultaneously listing every item that must be done in an unimaginable amount of time. Sometimes I really wish she would just shut up. Does anyone have any duct tape I could borrow?
I’ve learned to just ignore her all together. Actually, scratch that. I don’t just ignore her. I found duct tape, and its called the Word. It’s amazing how relaxed and content you can become when you read the Word. For those of you who mock me because of my faith, at least I’m relaxed during exam week! It’s one of those half glass full type of things.
I just read Ecclesiastes 3. It says, for anyone who doesn’t have a Bible available, in the first few verses “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
I just Skyped my bestfriend a few hours ago and I was venting to her about how I feel almost guilty because I have put so much emphasis on my studies and have not put as much effort into the church as I should be. But I felt a little more at east when I read Ecclesiastes. It speaks for itself. There is a time for everything. And right now is the time to embrace my school work. It’s time for a war against Calculus! Well, that may be a bit extreme, but you get the point.
That’s not to say that I have put Christ on the backburner. I still reflect and read the Word everyday. But I have put a little more time than usual on my studies because of final exams and there is nothing wrong with that! But believe me, as soon was Wednesday hit, look out! I’ll be back and refreshed.
So, please, stupid nagging mother in head. HUSH!
